The Late Dr. Joan King

COWOI HONORS THE LATE DR. JOAN KING

It was no wonder that anyone who heard Joan King speak clamored for more, more, more! She inspired, encouraged, and empowered. We cherished her words of wisdom to give our world perspective and her subtle encouragement to achieve our dreams.  We were so lucky to have her with us for in Northern Co for over 15 years. She was a force of nature, a tornado of brilliance in a petite package. Her influence permeated so many of our lives on so many levels. She taught us that there is great power in our thoughts, and she challenged us to THINK BIG! When she said, “Who are YOU to deprive the world of your genius?,” we believed.

COWOI would not exist without Joan King, nor would the Women of Vision Gala have come about. In 2014 COWOI’s Annual Women of Vision Gala was dedicated to Dr. King. She was one of the Founders of the Gala and was the very first International Woman of Vision Award Winner. That award was re-dedicated to her in 2014, and all future International Woman of Vision Awards will be bestowed in her name.

Joan’s books and “Claim Your Genius” card deck will be available at the COWOI Suite in Loveland, with 100% of the proceeds going to her Scholarship.

At the 2014 Women of Vision Gala we handed Dr. Stuart Tobet a few donation checks  for the Joan King Memorial Scholarship at CSU for a woman with an interest in science and engineering. Throughout the year, checks kept coming in. At the 2015 Gala we were thrilled to introduce the very first recipient of Joan C. King-Tobet Memorial Scholarship Endowment, KATIE LAWRENCE!
